The story
The Nazareno Gabrielli brand was founded in 1907 in Tolentino (MC) by the extraordinary binder and decorator of the same name. Nazareno Gabrielli was among the first to use sophisticated technologies such as photoengraving and xylography for his exquisite works.
As early as 1922, the company expanded its business into the world of fashion. Among the products of excellence, those of high leather goods deserve mention. It should be remembered, for example, that Nazareno Gabrielli has long been the licensee of Cartier's leather accessories and suitcases.
In 1928, the company was commissioned by Fiat to create some leather padding for the first royal train built in Italy.
Maximum expansion
The post-war years launched the Nazareno Gabrielli brand to become one of the most prestigious in the world of Italian fashion. In 1970 it had a turnover of 970 million with around 160 employees.
During the decade, the company thus decided to enter the leather goods sector, with particular attention to the female clientele, and in the accessories sector, with the creation of an ad hoc company for the marketing of objects that are not produced but designed: the Nazareno Gabrielli Diffusion.
With the idea of also entering the clothing sector, the Nazareno Gabrielli Moda brand was created. At the end of 1981, Nazareno Gabrielli, through a loan of 2.8 billion, took over the First International Company of Rovereto, a jeans factory with an area of 1500 covered meters and 180 workers. After the transformation into a prêt-à-porter factory, it was sold in 1983, making it produce clothes as a subcontractor.
The sectors of success
In the eighties, Nazareno Gabrielli dominated all sectors: leather goods, clothing, accessories and diaries, with the opening of numerous shops in different areas of Italy.
After years of continuous development and success, in the 2000s the brand experienced a period of slight decline and production was therefore limited to certain product sectors.
Rebirth in the new millennium
In 2011, the Nazareno Gabrielli brand was taken over by Nazareno Gabrielli Diaries, continuing the production and marketing of diaries, paper converting and promotional items, to which was then added the leather goods of Nazareno Gabrielli.
The company, with the exception of the clothing and prêt-à-porter sector abandoned by the parent company in the nineties and never taken up again, is once again unique.
The Nazareno Gabrielli brand was sold in 2012 to the entrepreneur from Benevento Silvestro Muccillo, who founded in 2000, together with his wife Antonietta Pesce, the Muccillo Group which later will be led by his daughter Milena and will bring together the brands Nazareno Gabrielli, Design Marta Marzotto, Emmesse and NG Freetime.
